A social project so social, it got confiscated by the police.
The Social Project
It’s hard to imagine how we could survive a day without our online social life since we are online 24/7 nowadays. Smartphones, smartwatches and other portable devices attack our real social, offline life. Being social online can be such a good thing.
However, it seems there is no limit and we have to learn how to deal with it. Curiosity is in our nature, which is a good thing, but too much can’t be good. When meeting face to face, we often get distracted by ringtones or notifications, which is resulting in anti-social behaviour. Time to get social again.
The Social Bench
Imagine yourself waiting in a public space. You will often dive into your phone and forget the world, and people around you. The Social Bench lets you enjoy your online social life when seated alone, but the moment on a person sits next to you, your online life will be switched off completely. Time to connect with those around you, time to enjoy the pleasure of the real social life, offline.
The Social Button
When having dinner, or being at a party with friends, there will be always a moment people check their phone, share, care, tag or post anything, instead of enjoying the moment. The Social button gives you the opportunity to enjoy that specific moment with each other. Offline. Set the button to the amount of friends around you, and switch off all phone signal, so you can really enjoy each others company for a time.
The Social Speaker
We all know the situation, when playing music on speaker via your phone, your track suddenly gets interrupted by annoying beeps, ringtones or other notifications. The Social speaker will make sure you will never get interrupted when listening to music by simply switching off all mobile signal, so you can fully enjoy those favorite Michael Jackson tracks.
And then it all got confiscated
Some legal issues
The morning after installing the Social bench, button and speaker in the galleries of Z33, we got word the police confiscated our project. Apparently, blocking phone signals is illegal. Which we never knew, obviously.
We never build something similar, but can deliver something awesome for you as well.
